On the 21 March, 30 students from UWC Atlantic College attended the National Assembly to participate in a short international debate on this year’s Commonwealth theme of “Connecting Cultures”. The event provided the opportunity to bring together a group of Welsh and International students to discuss the theme and debate what Connecting Cultures meant to them. This was also an opportunity UWC Atlantic College’s international students meet Welsh Government members and get an insight into how the Welsh Government operates its own particular form of democratic governance.

Karen Odidika, a student at the college said, “The debate made me re-evaluate my views on intercultural connection, and made me realise the importance of possessing a culture to share, in the first place.”

The students who attended had the opportunity to engage with the other young people from Fitzalan High School, Urdd, and Red Café.
