Israeli Ambassador, HE Daniel Taub, visits students at UWC Atlantic College
26th March 2012
On Monday 26 March, His Excellency Daniel Taub, the Ambassador of Israel to the Court of St James's, addressed students of UWC Atlantic College during a lecture in the impressive Bradenstoke Hall. The Ambassador was welcomed by the Principal, John Walmsley.
Ambassador Taub, with his background of 20 years as a Chief Negotiator in the various halting initiatives to embed a peace process in the region, gave a particular insight into the difficulties that such attempts at ending mutual distrust and conflict entailed. The Ambassador was open, engaging and willing to deal with the often difficult questions that were asked of him by UWC Atlantic College students. As is his ambassadorial brief, he represented the Israeli political view on many issues, though it was obvious that he himself was a thoughtful and broad-thinking advocate for a genuine peace that would be beneficial for both Israel and her neighbours.
Following the lecture, Ambassador Taub met with two Israeli students, Almog Zoosman, a second year scholarship student and Michael Sijak, a first year scholarship student.
John Walmsley commented, “We were pleased to welcome the Israeli Ambassador to UWC Atlantic College. He is compassionate advocate for peace and the students gained much from his visit, not least a unique insight into the subtle nuances of peace negotiation.”
