UWC Atlantic College Outdoor Faculty - Stand up Paddle

Four members of the newly formed Outdoor Faculty recently attended a Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Boarding course in order to become instructors in this fast growing sport. The faculty is looking to broaden the range of activities it offers and SUP's are its latest development. The paddle boards can be used on flat water for touring and in surf.
The course over three days looked at coaching, safety and potential sites in the locality for using the boards. All staff passed their Level Two Exposed Water award which will allow them to run sessions on the sea in the right conditions.
It is hoped to offer this new activity within the faculty next year, and also offer it to students from the wider college community who might not have much exposure to outdoor/adventure sports.
