Challenge Yourself

31st July 2012

Knight Riders‘Challenge yourself’ the words engraved in the minds of UWC students.

In our 50th anniversary year, have all alumni questioned whether they continue doing so? For one group, the UWC Atlantic College Under 10 Challenge was their calling and the Tough Mudder Challenge their means.

Night RidersOnce Milos Perovic (class of 06) heard of Tough Mudder, a gruelling 11-mile cross-country, 22 obstacle course; he and his fellow Tough Mudders Joseph Gridley (class of 06), Jamal Maxey (class of 05) and Scarlett Knight (class of  06), health coach, driver and media officer, formed the Team Night Riders.

Team training and the July-time event in Scotland reunited these college friends. They persevered under the name Team Night Riders towards the shared goal of giving back to UWC Atlantic College.

With Scottish mountainous terrain, ice-cold lakes and electro-shock obstacles, there were numerous challenges and fears to overcome. In the UWC spirit, Tough Mudders count as winners as long as they: challenge themselves, work in a team and help others along the way to finish the course.

Team Night Riders secured donations from friends and family as well as attracted donations from UWC Atlantic College alumni by linking their online fundraising page to the UWC Atlantic College Under 10 Challenge.

Knight RidersThis summer, they completed Tough Mudder and raised £937. Now, they call upon others from UWC Atlantic College (past and present) to join their team in November 2012 and fundraise more for future UWC Atlantic College students.
