UWC Atlantic College Hosts a Meeting of ISBA

17th October 2012

UWC ATLANTIC COLLEGE HOSTS MEETING OF ISBA

Independent Schools Bursars Association

The Independent Schools Bursars Association (ISBA) was established in 1932 and its objective is the advancement of education by the promotion of efficient and effective administration and ancillary services at independent schools.  It exists to provide support for bursars in independent schools and to promote best financial, administrative and operational practice, and one of the ways it does this is by regular meetings of Regional Groups within the UK.

The Severn and Avon Group – comprising 48 schools and colleges throughout South Wales and the Bristol, Gloucester and Swindon area of England – held its most recent meeting at UWC Atlantic College on Wednesday 10th October. Attended by some 20 or so members, together with Mike Lower, the General Secretary of the Association, the meeting received presentations from visiting speakers on Investment Opportunities in Sustainable Energy, and a Legal Issues update, as well as discussing a number of issues of concern that bursars from independent schools and colleges are faced with at this time.

Speaking after the meeting, Paul Motte, Bursar at the college, and himself a past Chair of ISBA said: ‘It has been a pleasure to host this meeting of colleagues during the college’s 50th anniversary year, and to introduce them to UWC Atlantic College. We have had a useful and constructive get-together and addressed a number of topics of mutual interest. Members of the Regional Group value these opportunities to meet and share best practice, together with updates on current issues of concern.’
