Selection Criteria
What are we looking for in candidates to this college?
Basic requirements, in addition to an academic report from the student's current Headmaster, are as follows:
• 16 - 18 age group. This is however dependent on the academic timetable of the country of origin.
• Academically capable of dealing with the rigours of the IB curriculum.
• The teaching language is English but a proven level of English is not necessary for students from within the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. As a condition for granting a UK Study Visa to Students from outside the EEA, however, it will be necessary to demonstrate a certain minimum standard in English.
• Demonstrable community service.
• Passion for international and intercultural understanding.
The UWC movement seeks young people who will grow to become:
‘responsible citizens, be politically and environmentally aware and committed to the ideals of peace and justice and co-operation through action and personal example'
There is an opportunity on the application form for applicants to outline how they would contribute in an environment such as this.
