The Foxglove Trio perform at UWC Atlantic College

The Foxglove Trio at UWC Atlantic College

Ffion Mair (UWC Atlantic College, class of 2004) and Catherine Mason (UWC Atlantic College, class of 2004) return with their folk band, The Foxglove Trio.

The Foxglove Trio is Ffion Mair - lead vocals, bodrhan, whistle; Cathy Mason - cello, guitar, vocals; and Patrick Dean - melodeon, cello, vocals. The genesis of this group came in 2011, and in the years following, they have played numerous folk clubs, venues and festivals. Distant Havens is their brand new, and second album, produced by Dylan Fowler. The trio previously released an EP called Like Diamond Glance and a debut album These Gathered Branches (both of those projects were produced by Mark Hutchinson).

The bulk of the new album focuses on The Foxglove Trio's signature sound: melodeon, cello and voice. In this combination the band can deliver everything from lyrical, heart-rending Welsh love songs like Ym Mhontypridd to jaunty, fig-infused Yorkshire ballads such as The Sheffield Apprentice.
