UWC Atlantic hosted the Bi Annual Conference for IOL Cymru. IOL is the Institute of Outdoor Learning and one of the leading organisations in outdoor learning, education and professional standards. The conference has been in the planning for nearly 2 years and we proudly hosted the event bringing over 60 delegates from across a wide range of outdoor sectors and Wales to the College for this event.
As well as networking, updating, sharing and learning we were privileged to be joined by TV Journalist and 'Biking Legend' Rob Penn (who has also cycled around the world!) and 'Crag' Jones, a mountaineer, climber and also the first Welsh person to summit Everest. The keynote speeches were enjoyed alongside workshops and a range of exhibitor stands.
Our students helped to support the operations of the conference as well as participating in the workshops and we were also grateful for the work of Alvin who is part of the student activity 'Flash' for the photos on the day.
Overall the day was a great success and participants had nothing but praise for the venue and for our students who helped out. Many connections were made on the day and there will be lots of opportunities for developing partnerships in the future following this event.
Atlantic College are Organizational Members of IOL and Tom Partridge (Head of Atlantic Experience) is the South Wales representative to the IOL Cymru Committee.
