Students at Bob Cook Games

Students at Games

Named after the late Charter President of the Lions’ Club of Chippenham, the Games take place every year on the second Sunday of August at the Athletics Track at Swindon’s County Ground Sports Complex.  Students from UWC Atlantic College went along to provide support.

This year the Games had participants from all over the district and beyond. Bang on time, contestants and helpers appeared and took their place and the games were formally opened. The president of Chippenham Lions, Both track and field events were contested strongly with large entries for field events such as the discus, javelin, shot and welly throwing.

Whilst medals were awarded for success in every event, two major trophies are awarded to the lady and the gentleman competitors who were judged to best represent the games’ true sprit of determination against the odds.

The day ended with the departure of the athletes; happy, but tired, and the Lions then set about the task of breaking camp and the dispersing ‘tent city’.

Next years' games will be held on 14 August 2016.

‘From the person who donated £20, to the person who donated £2000 - thank you. I am extremely grateful and indebted… I will do everything in my power to make sure that the contribution made is going to mean something more…’
