On Tuesday 30 November UWC Atlantic College held an event at the House of Lords. This was an excellent opportunity for students and staff to thank some of the donors for their continued support over the years.
The event was attended by Governors, donors, alumni and hosted by Baroness Eluned Morgan, class of 1985 from the UK.
Students from Syria, Armenia, Jordan, Palestine, Georgia, India, Malawi, Uruguay, UK, Northern Ireland, Italy, Israel, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ukraine, Columbia and Germany represented the college.
A student panel discussed and expressed their understanding and attitudes towards the current refugee crisis. Students spoke about their personal accounts, the journey of a refugee and attending UWC Atlantic College and the action UWC students believe is required to help ease and resolve the issue on an EU scale.
Caretaker Principal, Gerry Holden, said, ‘I enjoyed the opportunity to meet with alumni, friends of the college and donors. Their commitment to the college's mission and their support of its exceptional work is hugely encouraging. I look forward to working closely with them in the future.’
