Student Summer Project in Senegal

Summer Project in Senegal

Three UWC Atlantic College students spent two weeks in Saint Louis, Senegal in July with the local Akuwa association, to help with the child begging situation. The project was led by Iman Mbaye, class of 2017 from Senegal and Alima Travaly, class of 2017 from Senegal, with the participation of Maurits Jurgens, class of 2017 from The Netherlands.

Iman says that, ‘Atlantic College has taught us to try and make a difference, and fight for the change we want to see in the word. That's why we decided to work with five different religious schools and managed to reach more than 300 children through food distribution, free medical consultations, hygiene, road safety, and finally through clothing distribution”.

Here is a video of their time spent in Senegal...

‘From the person who donated £20, to the person who donated £2000 - thank you. I am extremely grateful and indebted… I will do everything in my power to make sure that the contribution made is going to mean something more…’

Sheryl Ofwona, Class of 2019, from Kenya
