A Breath of Fresh Air!

Breath of Fresh Air

UWC makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. Here at the United World College of the Atlantic, we are proud to have the annual tradition of a conference focused on sustainability, provided by students, for students.

The conference this year will consist of a diverse programme including speeches, workshops, and spaces for discussion, whilst being aims-based and action-oriented. Our aim is to challenge opinions, spark debate and inform our community about how to lead a more sustainable life. At the same time we want to encourage our generation to come up with solutions to this pressing problem and more importantly, convince them that change for the better starts with us.

Through encouraging each other to make positive changes at an individual level, we aim to make communal and global improvements, now and in the future. This will begin with active participation in the community, by doing acts of service such as litter clean ups, designing a communal garden in the local town and other forms of activism. Here at UWC Atlantic College we value this sense of idealism. Although the consequences of not dealing with environmental issues are already felt politically, socially and economically – a tension that will only increase - Redesigning Earth: A Breath of Fresh Air will help explain how to combat these various issues.
