‘A previous student once said that I ran Sunley House with ‘an iron fist in a velvet glove’ and this, I feel, underpins my role. ‘UWC makes education a force…’ and education can be in many forms including equipping young people with the skills and resilience they need to negotiate their path through life whilst keeping themselves well and happy.’
'By opening ourselves to new challenges and experiences in beautiful and unpredictable wild spaces, we can broaden our minds, gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of our world and develop a greater sense of our place within it.’
‘I absolutely love teaching in this amazing place. The diverse backgrounds of the students mean that every lesson is full of vibrant and interesting discussions. I have learned a lot! There is a real sense that these students are going to use the opportunities they have been given to make positive contributions to peace and sustainability across the world in the future.’
I love working at UWC because of its history, its diversity and its unique mission. I believe that education is about much more than grades and assessment criteria, and that the social, emotional and personal development of students should never be considered of secondary importance. UWC embodies those beliefs, which makes it an exciting and inspiring place to work.
As I belong to both, the Spanish and the Arabic speaking worlds, I feel at home at UWC Atlantic College, where diversity is at the essence of our community, and at the heart of the UWC mission statement, together with unity, peace and a sustainable future.
