UWC Atlantic offers an exciting, inspiring and transformational education for students.
The curriculum includes the International Baccalaureate and a co-curricular programme, based on the College’s history of experiential learning, with service at its core. Teachers are here to liberate the learner and to help them to process ideas critically as opposed to teaching them to pass an exam. Our students learn skills and acquire tools that enable them to make a difference in the world over the course of their career. They become part of the International UWC community, taking their learning out into the world to change it for the better.
Our Castle has a history going back 800 years and the College itself has been here for over 50 years. In a stimulating and yet safe and secure environment, with our students' health, happiness, wellbeing and safety at its centre, UWC Atlantic is proud to develop a unique peer group of potential change makers, ground breakers, risk takers, idea generators, future shapers and innovators drawn from all levels of society and drawn towards a shared purpose – to embody the global UWC spirit, to challenge cynicism with courage, action and belief and to lead inspired new thinking.
At its foundation, UWC Atlantic was described by The Times as ‘the most exciting experiment in education since the Second World War.' That experiment continues and we want to reclaim this headline. We are already in the process of spearheading the development of the new International Baccalaureate Diploma and we want to ensure that we have the perfect environment - physically, culturally, socially, digitally and financially - in which to deliver it.
As part of our RECLAIM REIMAGINE REINVENT approach, we will be strengthening our messaging - why the UWC educational approach is needed more than ever before in a challenging 21st Century context - and revisiting how we can make the most of our offer to inspire new students and engage better with everyone within our College community. An important part of this will be the redevelopment of this website with a launch early in the new academic year 2019-2020 to celebrate and showcase what makes UWC Atlantic unique. We will keep you updated on progress and if you need further information on the College in the meantime, which you cannot find here, please do let us know.
Welcome to UWC Atlantic.
